School News

SCHOOL CLOSED:  Wed. January 19 - Fri. January 21

Dear Jarrell ISD Parents & Employees

All four of our campuses will be closed for the rest of the week (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday).

COVID-19 cases across Jarrell ISD are surging. Our district conducted additional covid testing today, and more staff tested positive. We are experiencing critical staffing shortages, and we are unable to continue operating campuses safely until our employees recover and return to work. The safety of our staff and students is of the utmost importance.

Our employees are doing an incredible job covering for each other when teachers or staff members are absent. Despite our best efforts we have to close the schools for the rest of the week.

We understand this puts some of our families in a difficult situation. However, closing our campuses for the remainder of the week is the best chance we have to mitigate the further spread of COVID-19.

During the closure, our campuses will be deep cleaned and sanitized.

Thank you for your understanding.

Letter from Principal Lara HutchinsonLara Hutchinson

Hello JES Cougar Family!

I am so excited to be joining you as the Principal at Jarrell Elementary! I am bringing with me 20 years of experience in education, 7 of which have been in administration. It has been a dream of mine to work with our elementary students to ensure they have a strong educational foundation and a positive view of themselves as life-long learners. I am committed to meeting the needs of the whole child and always putting our students first.

I look forward to partnering with you to ensure that every door is open to your child. Together, we can create the best possible start to a future filled with success and achievement.

Please join our family Remind 101 group for the most up-to-date information about our school by texting the message @jesawe to 81010. School Messenger, our website and Facebook page will also be great resources of information. As always, do not hesitate to contact me by email or phone with any questions or concerns you may have.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 18th. We are in the process of planning Open House, Kinder Camp and some other activities to kick off the school year. More details about those events will be coming!

As we return to learning together this year, I hope to meet all of you and learn what makes your child special and unique. Jarrell Elementary is the heart of our community, and you will always be welcome to join us in supporting and celebrating our most precious and promising gifts, our kids.

Best regards,
Lara Hutchinson
